Oman extended their unbeaten run at the WCL Division 2 with a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Hong Kong. Left-arm swing bowler Bilal Khan starred with the ball, claiming four crucial wickets to restrict Hong Kong to 176 all out. Despite a valiant effort from Babar Hayat, who top-scored with 56, Hong Kong struggled to build substantial partnerships and were dismissed with two overs to spare.
In reply, Oman’s chase was anchored by Jatinder Singh’s well-paced half-century, supported by Khawar Ali and Aqib Ilyas. Although Hong Kong managed to break partnerships and claim wickets, their bowling lacked the necessary spark to put Oman under pressure. Captain Zeeshan Maqsood and Mohammad Nadeem calmly guided Oman to victory, with Nadeem remaining unbeaten on 31.
Meanwhile, USA secured a convincing 10-wicket win over Papua New Guinea (PNG), exacting revenge for their previous defeat in 2011. Ali Khan’s fiery spell of fast bowling, coupled with Karima Gore’s incisive left-arm spin, dismantled PNG’s batting lineup, restricting them to a meager total of 127 all out. In response, Monank Patel and Xavier Marshall’s explosive batting ensured USA chased down the target without losing a wicket, with Monank Patel particularly destructive, scoring an unbeaten 70 to lead his team to victory.
In another match, Namibia bounced back from their previous defeat to USA with a dominant 98-run win over Canada. Stephan Baard’s impressive 90 at the top of the order laid the foundation for Namibia’s strong total of 258 for 6, with Craig Williams contributing an unbeaten 65. Despite some resistance from Canada’s lower order, Namibia’s bowlers, led by Frylinck and Groenewald, proved too strong as they bundled out Canada for 160, securing a convincing victory.
